After failing to get into drama school, aspiring actor Emanuel returns to his hometown and begins writing down thoughts meant to help him come to terms with his failure. Before long, the writings slip out of his control and pull him further and further away from reality.

The film is structured as a sequence of scenes that shift in form, rhythm, and visual language. Together, they form a fragmented collage of literary conventions and recognizable inflections of auteur cinema.
